Stargazing Experiences
Discover the night sky during your school camp, and see stars & planets and other celestial objects through powerful portable telescopes (weather permitting). Learn how different cultures have interpreted their night skies during our laser pointer guided tour. Our astronomical guides have decades of night sky experience in showing students (and the general public) the wonders of our night sky, and explaining them in a fun and informative way. And we keep ourselves updated on the latest discoveries & developments so that you don't have to.
So why not enhance your next camp with some Night time Astronomy activities run by our friends from The Backyard Universe
Our astronomy activities at camps include:
- A live laser pointer guide to the stars, planets and constellations visible on the night, including multicultural and Aboriginal night sky interpretations.
- Stargazing through computer-controlled telescopes (weather permitting); including various types of stars, clusters, nebulae, galaxies, planets & their satellites, distances to the stars and galaxies, what can you see in a telescope, etc. We also look at the moon, if it is up.
- Answering just about any astronomy / spaceflight -related question.
- Optional daytime astronomy activities, for example creating scale model solar systems, creating meteor craters, making a planisphere, safely observing the sun, etc.
Our astronomy guides have decades of night sky experience and have spent thousands of hours presenting the night sky to school students and the general public.
